E. J. Murphy Realty, LLC is the Litchfield area’s premier independent real estate brokerage firm offering a full-range of buyer and seller services. The firm has been a consistent leader in the Litchfield County real estate marketplace as a result of its dedicated commitment to meeting client needs. The firm was started by Edward J. Murphy, Sr. as an insurance and real estate agency. The insurance division was sold off in 1968. Originally located in the nearby city of Torrington, the firm relocated to Litchfield in 1976 where its founder resided.

Josephine Kelley Murphy joined the firm as a sales associate in 1968 followed by Edward J. Murphy, Jr. in 1978.

With the passing of Edward Sr. in 1985, Edward Jr. took over the reins of the company. Ted, as he is known by all.
